THEME: GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES IN KENYAN MANUFACTURING SECTOR

Background

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives in collaboration with Kenya Association of Manufacturers will be hosting the first ever Kenya Manufacturing Summit and Expo at the KICC this November! The Kenya Manufacturing Summit and Expo is a three-day event, to be held from the 16th to 18th November, that will showcase the quality and diversity of locally manufactured goods made for local, regional and international markets. Its essence is to celebrate the advancement of locally made products and highlight their global positioning by showcasing them to the general public and more importantly the government of Kenya. As industry we aim to dismantle the long-held belief that local goods are not of high quality. In addition to the showcasing, the event will host a summit in which critical conversations on industrialization policy will be held. Here, industry and stakeholders will deliberate on transforming the nation through industrialization and the expectations on industry in this transformation.

Conceptualized around the African Industrialization Day which is set on the 20th of November every year, the Kenya Manufacturing Summit and Expo provides a platform for networking and learning opportunities for to boost regional economic growth.

This Premier event is one of a kind and is intended to kick-start an annual trend that will catalyse the envisioned industrial revolution in Kenya.

Strategic Objective: To advance international manufacturing competitiveness for locally manufactured products by all sectors of the economy.

Other Objectives:

• Generate leads by connecting industry stakeholders across the manufacturing supply chain
• Create a forum for launching new products by manufacturers
• Raise awareness of locally manufactured products and brands
• Strengthen the Buy Kenyan Build Kenya Initiative
• To Build data on Local Content
• Encourage sub contracting between SMEs and Large companies
• To develop a way forward for local manufacturers

Participants: SMEs, leading industry players, Allied Industries, Policy makers, manufacturers, exporters and importers, trade associations from the region, financial institutions, Government procurement entities, Universities, R & D institutions, government Ministries and Agencies, Counties, Foreign investors and the Public.

The Event: The Kenya Manufacturing Summit and Expo 2016will be a three day event and a forerunner for the commemoration of the African Industrialization Day.It will comprise an exhibition at the KICC Court Yard, Conferences at the KICC COMESA grounds, Workshops, Business-to-Business sessions; and a competition and Awards ceremony for the best manufacturer in competing sectors.

• Business environment and Manufacturing industry competitiveness
• Strategies to increase local content for job creation - Manufacturers Perspective
• Government Procurement opportunities for local manufacturers
• Linkages between universities and industries
• Opportunities for Manufacturers in the Region (EAC, COMESA)
• Subcontracting for SMEs from Large industries to create opportunities and employment
• Role of counties in improving business environment

Terms and Conditions

1. All exhibitors need to confirm their participation and/or their sponsorship latest by 28th October 2016.
2. To confirm participation, please complete the attached Exhibitors Registration Form and send it to jacinta.mwau@kam.co.ke of latest by 28th October 2016.
3. All payments and sponsorship negotiations will be handled by the contracting event organizing company.
4. All payments are non-refundable.
5. All potential sponsors can negotiate as to personalize the content of their sponsorship.
6. The event organizer will provide private security guards inside the EXPO to secure the exhibitors’ exhibits, the parking area and surroundings.
7. All exhibitors will need to show their exhibit’s to the private guards on 16th November morning 2016 for better monitoring.
8. All exhibitors need to finalize installing their booth/stand latest by Wednesday, 16th November 2016 at 2pm.
9. All exhibitors need to finalize dismantling their booth/stand latest by Friday, 18th November 2016 at 4pm.
10. It is a requirement that booths are NOT left unattended (at least 1 person inside) between 9 AM and 6pm.
11. All exhibitors and their staff/assistants need to carry their Exhibitor’s ID Badge at all times during the Expo.
12. Exhibitors may request for a Parking Pass for a maximum of 2 vehicles.
13. Once the Expo begins, it is recommended that exhibitors bring new exhibits to their booth between 7:30am and 10:30am or between 4pm and 6:30pm in order to limit traffic and lost items.
14. All exhibitors are to have their own insurance scheme prior to attending the Expo. The event organizer will not be held responsible for any incident involving the exhibitor or one/several of his/her staff member(s).
